He was born on April 13, 1983, to Richard Nachstein and Adelina Portal. He was a graduate of Mamaroneck High School Class of 2002 and went on to attend college at Westchester Community College.
He worked as a plumber with UA Local 21 Plumbers & Steamfitters and was most proud of his fraternal brotherhood.
Recently, he began a collection of pins and stickers that he would trade with other members of the union throughout the country.
He had a genuine love of collections that also included samurai swords, knives and daggers and medieval weaponry.
His family also recalls his love of reading. Andrew would revel in a series of novels where he’d read each and every book in the series.
He was also an avid history buff. His other loves included the NY Rangers, as well as punk rock music.
On September 3, 2016, he married Lauren (nee Ohnmacht).In addition to his wife and parents, he leaves behind stepfather James Clarke, siblings Mathew Mangone (Danielle) and Joanna Rafiq (Basir). He was the devoted uncle of Sadia, Gianna, Ava, Naveed, Emma and Jackson, and he was also godfather to Gianna, son-in-law to Peggy & John Ohnmacht, and brother in law of Kristin Ohnmacht, Amanda Levine (Michael) and David Ohnmacht. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins and was predeceased by cousin Amanda. Andrew is also survived by his faithful companion, Rifle.
To honor Andrew’s life, family and friends will gather on Sunday, Oct. 20 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Coxe & Graziano Funeral Home in Mamaroneck. A funeral mass will be on Monday, Oct. 21 at 10 a.m. at St. Gregory the Great Church, followed by interment at Greenwood Union Cemetery.
